Iván Romeo, a 21-year-old Spanish cyclist, has secured his first professional victory in stage 3 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. The young rider, who is a former world time trial champion in the under-23 category, showcased his impressive skills on the challenging route through the Serranía region.
Romeo's victory came after a strong attack on the final climb of the day, the Remedio. He managed to break away from the main group, including the race leader, Mathias Vacek, who finished four minutes and 20 seconds behind. Romeo's teammate, Pablo Castrillo, played a crucial role in the victory, providing support and guidance.
The victory has put Romeo in contention for the overall race lead, with the battle for the yellow jersey now between him, Buitrago, and Almeida. The next stage, which is considered the queen stage, will take place on Saturday and will be a crucial test for the riders.
