The 5th edition of the Admiral Spanish Sports Awards recognized the best athletes of 2024, celebrating their achievements on the national and international stage.
Bea Ortiz, the Olympic champion in women's water polo at the Paris 2024 Games, and Hugo González de Oliveira, the 200-meter backstroke world champion, were chosen by fans as the best athletes of 2024. Ortiz, who was also named the best player in the world in 2024 by World Aquatics, received 42% of the votes, surpassing Antía Jácome and Alisa Ozhogina. González de Oliveira secured 36% of the votes, edging out Fran Garrigós and Marcus Cooper.
In the Paralympic category, swimmer Sarai Gascón, who won bronze in Paris, received the most votes with 40%, surpassing Maria Delgado and Sara Andrés. Triathlete Dani Molina, the Paralympic champion in Paris 2024, won the men's category with 37% of the votes, beating José Antonio Marí and Ricardo Ten.
The awards also recognized Diego Domínguez and Iris Tió, both Olympic bronze medalists, in the Under-25 category. The gala also featured the presentation of the 'Corriendo Tras Un Sueño by Admiral' Sports Schools, a social project that facilitates access to sports for people with severe disabilities.
