F1 Announces Belgian GP Rotation for 2028-2030, New Venues Expected

Formula One has officially announced the rotation of the Belgian Grand Prix, a significant change set to take effect in 2028 and 2030. This decision comes as part of F1's strategy to introduce new races into the championship calendar, allowing for fresh venues to be considered.

Spa-Francorchamps, one of the most iconic circuits in F1 history, will be temporarily omitted from the schedule, marking a notable shift for a race that has been a staple since the inaugural championship in 1950. The current contract for the Belgian GP was due to expire this year, prompting the need for this rotation.

The move opens opportunities for new locations such as Thailand, Argentina, Rwanda, and a second race in Saudi Arabia, all competing for inclusion in future seasons. Additionally, existing races in Imola and Barcelona may also face rotation as F1 seeks to diversify its offerings.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali highlighted the importance of the Belgian GP, stating its historical significance and the exceptional experiences it has provided for both drivers and fans. He acknowledged the efforts made to enhance the facilities at Spa-Francorchamps, ensuring it remains a premier destination in the world of motorsport.

The new season is set to commence in Melbourne on March 16, 2025, with the anticipation of exciting developments in the F1 calendar.
