Disney+ has announced that 'Alien: Romulus,' the latest installment in the iconic sci-fi-horror franchise, will be available for streaming in the UK from January 15, 2025. This follows its theatrical release in August and subsequent debut on Hulu in the US in November.
The film centers on a group of six young colonizers who dream of a better life on a distant planet but find themselves confronting the deadly Xenomorph aboard a derelict space station. Directed by Fede Álvarez, known for 'Don't Breathe' and 'Evil Dead,' 'Alien: Romulus' features a talented cast including Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, and Isabela Merced.
Produced by Ridley Scott, who directed the original 'Alien,' the film has already achieved significant box office success, grossing over $105 million globally, making it the second highest-grossing film in the franchise.
Critics have praised 'Alien: Romulus,' with The Times calling it 'the best alien film since the Ridley Scott original.' The film boasts an impressive 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, despite some criticism regarding its nostalgic elements.
This release comes ahead of the upcoming Disney+ series 'Alien: Earth,' set to launch later this year as a prequel to the 1979 classic.
