The National Weather Service has issued flood and wind watches for the Bay Area as a strong storm approaches this weekend.

Forecasters predict scattered showers continuing into early Friday, followed by a significant low-pressure system bringing heavy rain and strong winds from Friday to Saturday.

North Bay is expected to receive the highest rainfall, with 2-3 inches in valleys and 3-5 inches in higher elevations. Coastal ranges may see 1-2 inches, while San Francisco anticipates 1.5-2 inches. East Bay, South Bay, and Monterey Bay should expect 0.5 to 1 inch.

A Flood Watch will be active for Marin, Napa, and Sonoma counties from 2 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday, indicating possible flooding in roads, streams, and rivers.

A Coastal Flood Watch is also in effect through 1 p.m. Monday for the San Francisco Bay and North Bay valleys.

Additionally, a High Wind Watch is issued for North Bay coastal areas from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, with gusts potentially reaching 50 mph.

After the weekend storm, a brief respite from rain is expected on Sunday, followed by another system arriving Monday into early Tuesday.
