Severe Flooding in Ireland, Nov 23

Severe flooding has impacted numerous regions in Ireland as Storm Bert continues to wreak havoc. Over 34,000 homes and businesses remain without power, primarily in counties Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, and Galway, following extreme weather conditions.

The storm, which brought torrential rain and winds reaching 110 km/h, has led to a Status Yellow weather warning being extended until Monday morning. The worst flooding was reported in Killybegs, Donegal, where rainwater levels reached up to one meter, submerging vehicles.

In Abbeyfeale, Limerick, the River Feale overflowed, resulting in significant property damage and the evacuation of over 100 residents from Listowel, Kerry, marking the worst flooding in 50 years for the area.

Transport services have also been severely affected, with multiple rail lines closed and ferry services cancelled. The storm's impact was compounded by previous Arctic conditions, raising concerns about transitioning weather patterns.

Authorities are currently engaged in cleanup operations and restoring power, with ongoing warnings about potential further flooding and hazardous travel conditions.
