Munster Technological University (MTU) in Ireland has unveiled QCloud, the country's first quantum cloud computing hub, in collaboration with Rackspace Technology and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This initiative aims to promote collaborative research and make quantum computing technology more accessible to researchers.
QCloud was developed due to MTU's commitment to democratizing access to quantum resources, enabling secure and scalable connectivity to genuine quantum computing power for researchers throughout Ireland. Since its launch in February 2024, QCloud has supported 12 startups and 11 major research projects, connecting multiple institutions.
The university expects to double its research projects in the coming year and welcomes new participants. QCloud is expected to foster innovation and democratize access to quantum computing resources, establishing Ireland as a key player in the quantum research ecosystem.
