On January 23, 2025, former President Donald Trump is scheduled to make a video appearance at the 52nd annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. This marks a shift from his previous in-person attendance in 2020.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the anti-abortion organization Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, confirmed that Trump will address the attendees through a video message.
Trump previously made history as the first sitting president to attend the March for Life, which led many in the anti-abortion movement to label him as the most pro-life president to date. However, during his 2024 presidential campaign, following the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade, Trump moderated his anti-abortion stance and removed anti-abortion language from the Republican Party platform.
March for Life President Jeanne Mancini expressed dissatisfaction with some of Trump's campaign comments but acknowledged that his administration significantly elevated the visibility of the March for Life and the broader anti-abortion movement.
This year's event will also feature prominent speakers such as House Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who will attend in person. The march is set to occur on the National Mall in the afternoon.
