Tommaso Giacomel Secures Silver at Biathlon World Championships, Ending Italy's 32-Year Drought in Individual Event

Tommaso Giacomel achieved a significant milestone by winning the silver medal in the individual event at the 2025 Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. Despite a single error in the final shooting round, Giacomel's performance secured Italy's first podium finish at this year's championships. This victory marks a notable achievement, breaking a 32-year gap since Andreas Zingerle's triumph in the same discipline. Giacomel expressed his satisfaction, stating, "It's a magnificent feeling." He acknowledged the opportunity to win, noting that an error can occur despite maintaining a 95% shooting accuracy. He also mentioned the condition of the snow and his energy management throughout the race, emphasizing his focus on upcoming competitions. He further added that he was satisfied with how he managed this situation, after the fatigue on Sunday. He knew he was coming to this World Championship with the possibility of doing well in every race.
