Sam Asghari has confirmed the existence of a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) surrounding his marriage to Britney Spears. The actor, who divorced the pop star in 2023 after a year of marriage, acknowledged the NDA restricts him from publicly discussing details of their relationship.
Speaking on the Viall Files podcast, Asghari joked about the prevalence of NDAs in Hollywood, stating, "You can't take a poop in Hollywood without having an NDA." While he avoided directly addressing the cause of their split, he emphasized his desire to maintain privacy, saying, "When it comes to breakups, splits, divorce, it sucks... But I think certain things you talk about in public and certain things you don't."
Asghari expressed continued respect for Spears and hopes for a future reconnection. He previously spoke about the challenges of Spears' conservatorship, recalling his shock at learning she required her father's approval for major life decisions even as an adult.
The couple's relationship began in 2016 after meeting on the set of Spears' "Slumber Party" music video. They married in June 2022, coinciding with the end of Spears' conservatorship, before divorcing in 2023 and being declared legally single in December 2024.
