The acclaimed South Korean drama 'Squid Game' will return to Netflix for its third and final season on June 27, 2025, as announced during the streaming platform's 'Next on Netflix' event.

A brief clip previewing the upcoming season was revealed, showcasing another tense scene from the deadly games. Since its debut in 2021, the survival thriller has become a global phenomenon, significantly boosting Netflix's subscription numbers and becoming the platform's most-watched original series in its first month.

Netflix reported that 142 million households tuned in to the dark drama, which follows contestants in a deadly competition to erase their financial debts. The show's return, alongside major live events like the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match, helped Netflix achieve a record 19 million new subscribers in Q4, bringing its global total to nearly 302 million.

This final season will continue to follow Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun, who is determined to end the dystopian games. 'Squid Game' is one of three popular series returning to Netflix this year, alongside the final season of 'Stranger Things' and the second season of 'Wednesday'.

Additionally, highlights from the event included a sneak peek of Guillermo del Toro's Oscar-winning film 'Frankenstein', which revives Mary Shelley's classic tale. 'This film has been in my mind since childhood,' Del Toro stated in a video message.

Ben Affleck also promoted his upcoming drama 'RIP', reuniting with Matt Damon in a police thriller inspired by real events set in Florida.
