Angelina Jolie has concluded her two-year legal struggle against the Department of Justice and the FBI concerning documents related to abuse claims made against her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. Jolie, who had pursued the case anonymously as 'Jane Doe,' sought records from the FBI regarding an alleged altercation on a private jet in 2016.
The allegations included accusations that Pitt poured red wine and beer over Jolie and their children, choked one of them, and struck another in the face—claims which Pitt has consistently denied. Despite the FBI's investigation, no charges were filed against him.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Jolie informed the court of her decision to drop the action on September 25. Both parties will bear their own legal costs.
The FBI and the LA County Department of Children and Family Services had previously investigated the incident, but a spokesperson for the FBI stated in November 2016 that no charges would be brought against Pitt.
Details about the incident first became public in August 2022 through a Freedom of Information court filing. Jolie's legal team has alleged that Pitt attempted to enforce an $8.5 million non-disclosure agreement to silence her regarding the abuse allegations.
Further complicating matters, the couple has been engaged in a contentious custody battle over their six children, four of whom are now adults. Additionally, Jolie sold her 50 percent stake in their French winery, Chateau Miraval, in 2023, a move Pitt claims was unlawful.
Jolie's attorneys argue that Pitt's attempts to shield himself from scrutiny are outdated and without legal basis, especially as he has previously waived his privacy rights by suing Jolie.
