Elon Musk aims to send robots with artificial intelligence to Mars in 2026, according to a post on X (formerly Twitter) on February 18. The mission, potentially involving Starship, will include autonomous robots and the Grok AI. Meanwhile, experts at the International Defence Conference (IDC) warn of escalating threats to space security. Anti-satellite systems, cyber-attacks on ground infrastructure, jamming, and space debris pose significant challenges. Mohamed Alahbabi of the Edge Group highlights human-made threats as most critical. Frank Backes, CEO of Capella Space, notes increasing threats to satellites and ground infrastructure, including RF attacks. Capella Space and SpaceX have upgraded systems to counter these threats. Elias Tsoutsanis of the UAE's Propulsion and Space Research Center points out that satellite overcrowding could limit launch windows, necessitating better space situational awareness.
