As winter blankets Turkey, Uludağ emerges as a prime destination for ski lovers, welcoming a surge of visitors during the semester break. Known as the 'white paradise,' this iconic mountain resort is bustling with both local and international tourists eager to hit the slopes.
With a snow depth of 68 centimeters, Uludağ is the country's first ski center, featuring 17 hotels with a total capacity of 5,000 beds. The recent influx of families and day-trippers has created a vibrant atmosphere on the slopes, where children enjoy sledding and snowball fights while adults take to skiing and snowboarding.
Visitors have expressed their delight in the lively ambiance. Sinan Karababa, who has visited Uludağ multiple times, shared, "Today we came for a day trip. It’s much busier than previous years, and winter tourism is thriving in our country. We’re having a great time, even if we’re falling a bit while skiing!"
First-time visitor Soner Yılmaz, who is learning to ski, noted, "Uludağ is really enjoyable. I love Bursa, but I’m excited to explore this area for the first time." Meanwhile, third grader Atlas Arıcan couldn’t wait to hit the slopes right after receiving his report card, saying, "Uludağ is beautiful. I’ve learned a bit about skiing, but I still need to work on stopping and turning!"
Uludağ's area manager, Bülent Çınar Çavuş, highlighted the region's commitment to enhancing the winter tourism experience. With an 80% occupancy rate in hotels, he anticipates reaching full capacity soon. "We are focused on preserving and promoting the natural beauty of Uludağ while ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our guests," he stated.
Recent improvements include enhanced parking facilities, upgraded restrooms, and initiatives to minimize visual pollution. The area is also introducing controlled access to ski slopes to ensure visitor safety. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a curious beginner, Uludağ offers an unforgettable winter escape.
