ATCH: Capybaras roam the halls of Brazil's state legislature building

Occasionally, political life grows so tranquil that nature itself literally intervenes in a parliamentary session.

In the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, two capybaras calmly strolled into the legislative assembly building in Cuiabá. As staff and lawmakers prepared for their usual workday, these new "visitors" decided to independently explore the corridors of power.

And they looked as if they were there on official business.

With no signs of panic or haste, the capybaras leisurely moved through the building, observing their surroundings with the very philosophical tranquility for which they are adored online.

Staff members gently guided the animals toward the exit. An eyewitness captured the scene on video, and the footage swiftly went viral.

The story was particularly amusing because, for local residents, encountering capybaras is not an unusual occurrence. Green spaces and water sources are located near the building, which is why these animals frequently appear in the vicinity.

However, seeing a capybara in a park is one thing.

But encountering one in the corridors of parliament is quite another.

Fortunately, these "unofficial legislators" caused no damage, did not disrupt the session, and made no budgetary demands. Following their brief exploration, they were safely escorted back outside.

Nevertheless, given their remarkable calmness and composure, these visitors could perhaps legitimately lay claim to their own seats in the assembly hall.

Sometimes, the most amusing news of the day is simply about two capybaras who decided to check in on how state affairs are being conducted.

No taxation without representation. Being taxed by the UN would be far more offensive than the taxes imposed by Great Britain against the American colonies more than 250 years ago. Those taxes sparked the American Revolution. The UN should be defunded, not seeded with new
