Donald Trump has called for a 30-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. This announcement followed a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump stated his commitment to securing peace after previously suggesting he might withdraw from negotiations.

Trump posted on Truth Social about the ongoing talks. He said the U.S. is ideally calling for a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. He added that both countries would be held accountable for respecting direct negotiations.

Trump further stated that if the ceasefire is not respected, the U.S. and its partners will impose additional sanctions. Zelensky described the call as a "good conversation." They welcomed the Ukrainian Parliament's ratification of the US and Ukraine's mineral deal, splitting profits 50/50 from new mining licenses.

Zelensky said they discussed the need for continued peace efforts and concrete steps. Trump inquired about the battlefield situation, and Zelensky provided an overview. Zelensky also informed Trump that Ukraine is ready for a 30-day ceasefire, starting immediately, and awaits Russia's support.

Zelensky reaffirmed Ukraine's readiness for talks in any format. He emphasized that Russia must demonstrate serious intentions to end the war. This demonstration should begin with a full unconditional ceasefire.

Trump said the ceasefire must ultimately lead to a Peace Agreement. He added that it can be done quickly. Trump stated he will be available on a moment's notice if his services are needed.
