The United States has restarted deliveries of 155mm artillery shells and GMLRS missiles to Ukraine. This follows a temporary halt in some weapon shipments by the Trump administration, as reported by Reuters. The pause was attributed to concerns about depleting American military stockpiles.
President Donald Trump stated he was unaware of the pause. He pledged to send more defensive weapons to Ukraine. Officials did not specify the quantity of arms being delivered or if the shipment was complete.
The halted shipment reportedly included 30 Patriot missiles, over 8,500 artillery rounds, 250+ GMLRS missiles, and 142 Hellfire missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is seeking to secure critical military supplies, especially air defense systems.
Trump has said he would consider sending Patriot missiles. Ukraine is exploring joint weapons production with international allies. Draft legislation on joint weapons production is expected to be voted on later this month.
President Trump has emphasized Ukraine's need for Patriot missiles. After a call with Zelenskiy, Trump criticized Putin. He praised the effectiveness of the Patriot missile system.
