Egypt and Italy Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues

On Thursday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani to discuss political consultations between the two countries. The meeting, attended by Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing regional and international developments of mutual interest. Both ministers emphasized the historical and strong ties between Egypt and Italy, highlighting the importance of continued cooperation. Discussions included increasing Italian support for Egypt within European Union institutions and the European Parliament, particularly regarding financial aid. Italy's support for Egypt in international forums and Egyptian candidacies in international organizations was also discussed. The ministers addressed various issues of mutual concern, including economic and investment cooperation, trade enhancement, and the activation of the Egyptian-Italian Business Council. They also discussed regional matters such as developments in Syria, Sudan, Libya, the Palestinian issue, and counter-terrorism efforts. Both sides agreed on the importance of de-escalation and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, as well as supporting the Palestinian people's rights.
