On June 23, 2025, at approximately 23:30 local time, Greece successfully launched the DUTHSat-2, its first domestically-built CubeSat. The launch occurred from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter-14 mission.
DUTHSat-2 was developed by the Democritus University of Thrace in collaboration with Greek entities. The satellite, weighing 7 kilograms, has been deployed into a sun-synchronous orbit 510 kilometers above the Earth's surface.
The DUTHSat-2 mission is part of the National Micro-satellite Program, supported by the Hellenic Space Agency and funded by the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Ministry of Development and Investments. The program's goal is to enhance the country's capabilities in Earth observation and disaster management.
In November 2025, the launch of two more CubeSats from Greek entities is planned, supporting research and technological developments in the field of Earth observation.
