On July 2, 2025, the Brazilian Federal Senate approved the Legislative Decree Project (PDL) 553/2021. This project ratifies the treaty on mutual legal assistance and legal relations in civil matters between Brazil and Ukraine.
The treaty, signed in 2018, aims to facilitate legal cooperation between the two countries in civil, commercial, and administrative processes. Key aspects include access to justice for citizens, recognition and enforcement of judgments, and streamlined judicial procedures.
Senator Sergio Moro highlighted the treaty's role in strengthening international legal cooperation. The measure is also seen as a gesture of solidarity with Ukraine. The treaty will now be enacted, becoming part of Brazilian law.
