Montana students embrace aeroponic gardening for sustainable food production

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Billings students are exploring aeroponic towers to grow food in a greenhouse. This initiative is a collaboration between St. John's United and Billings Public Schools.

The greenhouse serves as a year-round classroom for students. They plant seeds, transplant them onto aeroponic towers, and harvest food.

The produce is delivered to St. John's United kitchen staff for residents. Aeroponic towers allow for soil-free gardening using nutrient-enhanced water.

Each tower can hold up to 52 plants, potentially growing over 2,000 plants at full capacity. The towers can be used in various environments, even without natural light.

This greenhouse is one of the few aeroponic greenhouses in the region. It offers a state-of-the-art approach to food production.

St. John's United Greenhouse will host its second annual open house and plant sale on May 10.
