Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

India has announced the immediate suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a 1960 agreement with Pakistan. This treaty governs the sharing of water from the Indus River system.

The decision was made by India's Cabinet Security Committee in response to alleged cross-border terrorism by Pakistan. India accuses Pakistan of supporting the attack in Kashmir.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called a National Security Committee meeting to respond to India's announcements. The meeting is scheduled for April 24, 2025.
