Dominican Republic Achieves 23.32% Renewable Energy Capacity in 2024

The Dominican Republic's energy matrix concluded 2024 with a total electricity generation capacity of 1,396 MW sourced from renewable energies, including solar, wind, and biomass. This figure represents 23.32% of the nation's overall generation capacity, as reported by Betty Soto, the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Energy Transition at the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

This 23.32% marks a significant increase from the 11.94% of renewable energy generation capacity recorded in 2020, when the total capacity from these sources stood at 588 MW.
