In Kabul, UNICEF announced the restoration of the water supply system, which will provide clean drinking water to approximately 4,000 families. This initiative aims to improve sanitation and reduce the risks of waterborne diseases.
Besides working in the capital, UNICEF is also building and repairing water networks in various Afghan provinces, especially in remote villages, to ensure access to safe water for more families.
According to reports, in 2025, approximately 22.9 million people in Afghanistan will need humanitarian assistance, with 21 million lacking access to sufficient water and sanitation.
In May 2025, over 800 households in Daykundi province will gain access to safe drinking water through the construction and renovation of water networks with a budget of approximately $194,432.
Continued expansion of these projects is crucial to address the humanitarian needs of the Afghan population and ensure sustainable access to clean water and sanitation.
