Brussels, June 17, 2025 — The European Commission has announced €161 million in humanitarian aid for Afghanistan and Afghan refugees in Pakistan and Iran. This decision comes amid the ongoing severe crisis caused by poverty, droughts, and mass deportations.
From the total amount, €141 million will go to support humanitarian organizations in Afghanistan. €10 million each will be allocated to help refugees in Pakistan and Iran. The funding will cover food assistance, healthcare, access to water, sanitation, and support for education, especially for girls.
17 June, another EU Humanitarian Air Bridge flight arrived in the country with nearly 100 tons of essential supplies. A total of 40 flights have been organized since 2021 as part of this initiative, delivering around 2,150 tons of aid.
EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib emphasized that the EU continues to support the Afghan people by directing aid to the most vulnerable and reaffirming its commitment to protecting human rights and basic needs in the region.
