Jakarta, June 23, 2025 — The Indonesian government has called for a diplomatic solution to the conflict following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22.

Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Coordinating Minister Budi Gunawan stressed that Indonesia insists on the resumption of negotiations to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East. President Prabowo Subianto has instructed to ensure the protection of Indonesian citizens in the conflict zone.

Evacuation began on June 23: the first group of 29 Indonesian citizens left Iran and flew to Jakarta via Baku, where they are scheduled to arrive on June 24. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and are preparing for possible subsequent evacuations.

Indonesia also expressed its willingness to assist the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in facilitating dialogue and a ceasefire.

Iran, in turn, condemned the US strikes and called them a violation of international law, which underscores the importance of the diplomatic efforts that Indonesia is calling for.
