UK Announces £120M Aid Package for Sudan Amid Conflict; War Crimes Allegations Surface
The UK has pledged £120 million in aid to Sudan to address the escalating humanitarian crisis. The announcement coincides with the two-year anniversary of the conflict. The aid package aims to support the 30 million Sudanese people in need, including 12 million who have been displaced.
A conference was held in London, co-hosted by the UK, African Union, European Union, France, and Germany, to discuss the international response to the crisis. Sudan criticized the conference for not inviting them to participate. The conference sought to coordinate efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
Simultaneously, lawyers submitted a dossier to the UK police alleging war crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). They are urging the UK police to refer the case to the International Criminal Court (ICC). These allegations add another layer of complexity to the already dire situation in Sudan.
