The UN announced on March 26, 2025, that renewed Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip have displaced 142,000 people in one week. According to UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, this number is expected to rise. Dujarric also noted that 90% of Gaza's population had already been displaced at least once between October 7, 2023, and the ceasefire on January 19. The ceasefire was broken by Israeli actions on March 18.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened further action in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of potential territory seizure if Hamas refuses to release hostages. Hamas stated that Israeli hostages could be killed if Israel attempts a rescue by force.
Since the resumption of Israeli operations on March 18, reports indicate 830 deaths in Gaza, bringing the total to 50,183.
