The UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, appealed to the UN Security Council on Tuesday to demand a commitment from Israel that its presence in Syria is temporary. Pedersen stated that Israel should withdraw and respect Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, unity, and independence. He noted recent Israeli airstrikes in Syria and the confirmed construction of positions in the separation zone, violating the 1974 agreement. Several Security Council members, including Iran, Russia, and Algeria, condemned the Israeli bombings. Syria's Foreign Ministry welcomed the international community's opposition to these violations. Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia also expressed rejection of the attacks, warning about regional instability and violations of international law.
