Australia Pledges Additional €6 Million to Ukraine Energy Support Fund Amid Ongoing Russian Attacks

Australia has contributed an additional €6 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, according to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. This contribution aims to address critical needs in Ukraine's energy sector following continued Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, emphasized the importance of the aid in restoring and maintaining energy supplies during ongoing challenges. Australia had previously announced a contribution to the Fund earlier in 2024, bringing its total contribution to nearly €18 million. The Ukraine Energy Support Fund, established in Kyiv in 2022, is an initiative by the Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko, and the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, under the Secretariat of the Energy Community. Partner contributions to the Fund are expected to exceed €1 billion. Donors include both public and private sectors from over 30 countries, including EU member states, the United Kingdom, the USA, and international and regional organizations.
