Beijing, May 16, 2025 - Xiaomi has officially announced the launch of its new self-developed mobile phone chip, the Xring01, slated for late May. The announcement was made by Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, on his Weibo account, marking a significant step for the company in advanced chip design.
This move signifies Xiaomi's ambition to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers like Qualcomm and MediaTek. The Xring01 is expected to enhance user experience and create tightly integrated ecosystems, aligning with strategies employed by competitors like Huawei and Apple.
The Xring01 is rumored to feature an octa-core CPU with a 1+3+4 configuration. It includes one high-performance Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.2GHz, three Cortex-A725 cores at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz. The chip is reportedly manufactured on TSMC's 4nm process.
The launch of the Xring01 positions Xiaomi alongside Apple and Google as one of the few smartphone brands with vertically integrated chip design capabilities. This allows for greater control over hardware and software optimization, potentially leading to improved device performance and power efficiency.
