Russia's Rosatom has initiated legal action in Moscow against Finnish companies Fortum and Outokumpu, demanding 227.8 billion roubles, equivalent to $2.8 billion [2, 6]. This compensation is sought for losses resulting from the termination of the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant contract in Finland [2]. Rosatom asserts that the losses stem from the unlawful termination of the EPC contract, along with violations of the shareholder agreement and fuel supply contract [2, 6]. The Finnish side terminated the contract in May 2022, citing delays and geopolitical risks [2, 3]. The original contract, signed in 2013, aimed to construct a 1.2-gigawatt plant [2, 6]. Fennovoima, a consortium of Finnish stakeholders, has initiated international arbitration seeking the return of 1.7 billion euros in advance payments, while Rosatom has filed counterclaims for 3 billion euros [2, 3]. These cases are currently under arbitration in international courts [2].
