Salaries for top managers at major German companies have increased by 21% between 2019 and 2024, adjusted for inflation. The median salary for board chairpersons reached approximately 4.4 million euros last year.
Meanwhile, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO), the average salary for all employees in Germany has risen by only 0.7% from 2019 to 2025.
Oxfam is calling for the German government to increase taxes on high incomes and wealth. They also suggest raising the minimum wage to 15 euros per hour.
