On April 11, 2024, clashes near El Fasher, North Darfur, resulted in the deaths of 25 people, according to a report by Agence France-Presse. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are accused of attacking the village, which is near the capital of North Darfur state. Fighting between the Sudanese army, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF, commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, has continued since April 15, 2023. Aid agencies report increasing challenges in providing assistance across Sudan. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, stated on Friday that over a thousand Sudanese refugees arrived in Europe in January and February 2024, a 38% increase from the previous year. He also noted that 937 others were intercepted or rerouted to Libya, more than double last year's figures. The UN warns that millions in Sudan face food insecurity due to ongoing conflict.
