Taiwan Ready for Tariff Negotiations with the United States Amid Trade Concerns

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Taiwan's Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung stated on Tuesday, April 8, that Taiwan is prepared to engage in negotiations with the United States regarding tariffs at any time. This follows concerns about trade, which caused a significant drop in the island's stock market the previous day.

Lin indicated that Taiwan is open to discussing various issues with the U.S., including investment, purchases, and non-tariff barriers. He emphasized the readiness to negotiate as soon as a confirmed time and method are established.

Taiwan's stock index, which experienced a substantial decline on Monday, recovered some losses on Tuesday morning. Similarly, shares in TSMC, a major chipmaker, also saw a reduction in losses.
