NATO Estimates Russia's Losses in Ukraine War Exceed 900,000

According to a senior NATO official, Russia has likely suffered over 900,000 total casualties in the war against Ukraine, including 250,000 killed. The official made these remarks during a briefing at a meeting of foreign ministers from the Alliance in Brussels on Thursday, June 3rd. The official stated that Russia is losing approximately 1,000 casualties per day through deaths and injuries. Despite these losses, Russia appears prepared to sustain such casualties in exchange for gains on the battlefield. NATO also reports that Ukraine has reclaimed approximately 90% of the territory it previously held before Russia's advances, which equates to over 100,000 square kilometers. Russia maintains full control over the city of Sudzha. Approximately 70,000 Russian soldiers are stationed near the Kursk region. Additionally, around 3,500 North Korean troops have been sent to Russia for training. Casualties among these North Korean soldiers are estimated to be high, with around 1,500 deaths. NATO officials indicate that Russia aims to completely isolate Ukrainian forces along the front lines to gain an advantage in potential peace negotiations. The Alliance acknowledges that Russia is not genuinely interested in peace talks and seeks to demoralize the Ukrainian population and undermine their will to resist.
