US Continues Military Strikes Against Houthi Militia in Yemen

The U.S. Central Command (Centcom) reported ongoing military strikes against the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen. These operations continued overnight, with no further details provided by Centcom via the platform X. The Houthi-controlled Yemeni news agency Saba reported two airstrikes early Monday near the port city of Hudaida, approximately 230 kilometers southwest of Sanaa. Al-Jazeera reported that the death toll from U.S. attacks has risen to 53. U.S. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth stated that the attacks, ordered by President Donald Trump, send a clear message to the Houthis and Iran. He added that the U.S. would cease attacks if the militia stops firing on ships. The Houthi militia has repeatedly attacked ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as well as targets in Israel, with drones and missiles since the start of the Gaza conflict in October 2023. After a pause since the Gaza ceasefire on January 19, the militia threatened new attacks on Israeli ships, including in the Arabian Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
