United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, on Friday, amid concerns that food rations may be halved starting next month. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) may reduce food vouchers from $12.50 to $6 per month due to funding shortages, potentially worsening conditions in the refugee settlement. This reduction follows the shutdown of USAID operations. UNICEF reports malnutrition is worsening among children in the camps, with severe malnutrition treatment admissions up 27 percent in February compared to last year. Bangladesh currently shelters over 1 million Rohingya refugees who fled Myanmar in 2016 and 2017.
