Two United Nations agencies, UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration, cautioned on Monday that funding shortfalls from global donors could severely impact Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. They launched a joint multi-year funding appeal for food and educational assistance for Rohingya refugees who have fled violence in Myanmar over the past eight years. The agencies, along with 113 partners, are seeking $934.5 million for the first year (2025-2026) of the appeal, aiming to reach approximately 1.48 million people in Bangladesh, including Rohingya refugees and host communities. Concerns have risen after the U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) announced potential cuts to food rations for Rohingya refugees following the shutdown of USAID operations. Bangladesh currently shelters over one million Rohingya refugees in camps in Cox's Bazar.
