Koeberg Nuclear Power Plant Unit in South Africa Unexpectedly Shuts Down

A unit at South Africa's Koeberg nuclear power plant experienced an unplanned shutdown on Sunday. According to Eskom, the unit tripped while operating at full capacity. The shutdown occurred during work on Unit 1, which is currently offline. Unit 2 is expected to be reconnected to the national grid within 48 hours. Koeberg is Africa's only commercial nuclear power plant, providing approximately 5% of South Africa's national power supply.
