Turkey Aims for Maximum Capacity on Iraq-Turkey Oil Pipeline After Resumption

Turkey is aiming to operate the Iraq-Turkey oil pipeline at maximum capacity once flows resume through Ceyhan. The pipeline was halted in March 2023 after the International Chamber of Commerce ordered Turkey to pay Baghdad $1.5 billion for unauthorized exports between 2014 and 2018. Turkey has stated its readiness to resume operations since late 2023, facilitating oil exports from the Kurdistan region. Despite Baghdad's announcement of an imminent restart, eight international oil firms operating in the region have indicated they will not resume exports through Ceyhan.
