On 14 October 2026, at the Research@ event in Mountain View, Google Research presented a series of breakthroughs in the field of artificial intelligence. Vice President Yossi Matias emphasized that a "golden era of research" has arrived, in which AI amplifies human ingenuity and makes previously unattainable possibilities accessible.

Particular attention was given to Google Earth AI — a planetary intelligence system. It helps forecast public health threats, such as disease outbreaks, and overcome reporting delays. At its core lie geospatial foundation models, including the Remote Sensing Foundation Model and the Population Dynamics Foundation Model, as well as TimesFM for short-term and long-term forecasting.

In healthcare, Google continues to develop AMIE — a medical AI system. A recent study in The Lancet showed its potential to support the patient-physician relationship in real clinics. Additionally, Google.org is allocating 10 million dollars to projects on crisis resilience and public health.

For scientific research, Co-Scientist was presented — a multi-agent tool that generates hypotheses and helps reproduce methods in new contexts. Another tool, Deep Review, has already reviewed more than 16 thousand publications at conferences and is now open to the general public for analyzing technical documents.

In the space sector, Google is developing Project Suncatcher — a project to place AI in space. It includes testing hardware for survivability in space and developing cooling systems for chips. How will this affect future missions?

All these tools, including the new Edge AI chips and agents for geospatial analysis, are aimed at enabling scientists, doctors, and organizations to solve global challenges faster. The company emphasizes open access and collaboration with partners.
