MITSUI E and S Develops Hydrogen Refueling System for Cargo Equipment

May 16, 2024, Japan - MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd. has been selected for a subsidy by NEDO for a project focused on developing a hydrogen refueling system.

The project aims to support the widespread adoption of hydrogen-powered cargo handling equipment, addressing the urgent need to reduce CO2 emissions in maritime container transport.

MITSUI E&S will leverage its experience with the world's first fuel cell-powered RTGC to develop a refueling system capable of efficiently supplying large volumes of hydrogen.

The project includes research into equipment specifications, regulations, and certifications. This initiative is expected to accelerate the decarbonization of port container terminals and support the adoption of hydrogen-powered equipment globally.
