In the Philippines, Manuel V. Pangilinan and Leandro Leviste are planning a follow-up to the P200-billion Terra Solar project. The new project, dubbed Terra Solar 2, is slated for development in South Luzon, specifically in Batangas. While not as large as the original Terra Solar, it will still span several thousand hectares. The initial Terra Solar project covers 3,500 hectares across Nueva Ecija and Bulacan, delivering 3,500 MWp of solar power to the Luzon grid with 4,500 MWh of battery energy storage, with completion targeted by 2027. Terra Solar 2 will be managed under SPNEC, soon to be renamed MGen Renewable Energy Inc. (MGreen). MGreen aims for an initial portfolio of 1,500 MW of renewable energy.
