Ghana and Switzerland Partner to Boost Renewable Energy, Targeting 10% Renewable Share by 2030 with Swiss Expertise

Ghana and Switzerland are collaborating to enhance Ghana's renewable energy sector. On Wednesday, Ghana's Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor and Swiss Ambassador Simone Giger met to discuss renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure. Ghana aims to increase renewable energy's share from 1% to 10% by 2030, seeking Swiss expertise in clean tech and hydropower. Switzerland is considering supporting a pilot project for solar-powered agro-processing hubs, addressing Ghana's energy and agricultural modernization needs. A previous $230 million Debt-for-Development Swap in 2020 yielded mixed results, but both leaders emphasize the importance of this partnership for energy justice and industrialization.
