Xreal has introduced the xbx a01+ AR glasses under its X by Xreal sub-brand. The model went on sale on July 10, 2026, with a retail price of $299.
The standout feature of this new device is its ultralight chassis, which weighs just 62 grams with the detachable front frame or a mere 56 grams without it. By omitting a built-in camera, the company reduced the overall weight while focusing the experience entirely on content consumption.
The a01+ is equipped with 0.6-inch dual-layer Micro-OLED displays from SeeYa. Resolution in 2D mode is 1920 × 1080, while 3D mode offers 3840 × 1080. The screens support a 120Hz refresh rate, brightness up to 1,600 nits, and both HDR10 and AI-HDR. With a 50-degree field of view, the virtual display is equivalent to a 147-inch screen at a distance of 4 meters. A spatial image stabilization algorithm is also included to ensure a steady picture.
Sound is provided by integrated 9 × 20 mm drivers with four specialized modes: 3D Surround, Cinema, Whisper, and Standard. The glasses connect via USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode support and, lacking an internal battery, draw power from an external device. Interchangeable front frames, including options for 3D printing, and optional prescription lenses are also available.
Key limitations include the absence of an onboard camera and the lack of standalone power. This model is designed strictly for media consumption and does not support environment-tracking AR features.
Compared to the flagship Xreal One and One Pro models, the a01+ is lighter and more affordable, though it offers lower brightness and fewer advanced features. At $299, it stands as one of the most accessible options for a portable large-screen experience for gaming and movies.
The xbx a01+ is ideal for users seeking lightweight AR glasses for travel and daily use without paying for unnecessary extras.
