Amazfit unveils the T-Rex Dual Solar — the first AMOLED watch with solar charging on both sides

On 22 September 2026, Amazfit unveiled the T-Rex Dual Solar — the world's first AMOLED watch with solar charging on both the front and back at the same time. The main novelty is two photovoltaic panels: a front one around the display and a rear one on the glass-ceramic back cover, whose area is twice as large.

The watch is equipped with a 1,32-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels, peak brightness of up to 3000 nits and sapphire glass. The case, with a diameter of 51,4 mm and a thickness of 16,9 mm (including the sensor), weighs 69 g without the strap. The materials are Grade 5 titanium for the bezel and buttons, reinforced polymer for the midframe, and titanium with glass-ceramic on the back panel. Water resistance is 10 ATM with support for recreational diving to 50 metres, operation at temperatures down to −30 °C, a built-in flashlight (white and red), and a microphone and speaker for Bluetooth calls.

The battery capacity is 660 mAh. According to the manufacturer, in typical mode the watch runs for up to 25 days, with front solar charging (3 hours a day at 50 000 lux) — up to 34 days, and with rear solar charging — up to 51 days. In accurate GPS mode — up to 41 hours. In extreme outdoor mode with continuous rear solar charging, up to 180 days is claimed. The watch runs on Zepp OS 6, supports dual-band GPS, preloaded maps, route planning, 180+ sports modes and a low-temperature mode.

Compared with the T-Rex Ultra 2, the battery has decreased from 870 to 660 mAh, and the display from 1,5 to 1,32 inches. On the other hand, dual solar charging has been added and water resistance for diving has been increased. In real-world tests (DC Rainmaker), the gain from the sun turned out to be modest: 2–3 % a day with prolonged exposure to bright sun off the wrist, while the rear panel quickly overheats in the heat and shuts off.

The price is 649,99 dollars, 649,90 pounds or 649,90 euros. Availability from 22 September 2026 on the Amazfit website and Amazon, with shipping in the US immediately, and in Europe from mid-October. The closest competitors are the Garmin Fenix 9 Pro Solar (bigger battery and GPS endurance, but an MIP screen) and the previous T-Rex Ultra 2 (cheaper by 100 dollars, larger battery and screen, without solar charging).

For those who often take their watch off in the sun on long hikes and are prepared to put up with lower baseline battery life, the T-Rex Dual Solar offers a unique combination of a bright AMOLED and dual solar charging; in other cases, it is worth comparing with the Ultra 2 or Garmin.
