Microsoft has broadened the rollout of Windows 11, version 24H2, to a wider range of PCs following the resolution of initial compatibility concerns. The update, also known as the Windows 11 2024 Update, is now being offered to eligible devices running Windows 10, version 22H2.
The initial update blocks were primarily due to conflicts with certain third-party applications, including those utilizing Dirac Audio and Sensohield technologies. Wallpaper customization applications were a significant cause, leading to issues such as improper wallpaper display, missing desktop icons, and loss of desktop preview functionality. Microsoft has been gradually removing safeguard holds as developers release updates.
Users can check the update status by navigating to Settings > Windows Update and selecting 'Check for updates.' The update process may prompt users to uninstall conflicting wallpaper applications or suggest updating them. Microsoft continues to monitor and address compatibility issues to ensure a smooth update experience for all users.
