Microsoft to Retire Remote Desktop App: Transition to Windows App for Remote Access by May 2025

Microsoft will discontinue support for the Remote Desktop app for Windows from the Microsoft Store starting May 27, 2025. Users must transition to the Windows App to maintain access to Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Microsoft Dev Box. Remote Desktop users should continue using the Remote Desktop Connection until its features are integrated into the Windows App. Those using Remote Desktop Services should use RemoteApp and Desktop Connection until support is added to Windows App. The Windows App serves as a unified platform for remote connections from PCs and mobile devices.
