Mercedes-AMG has introduced the Concept GT XX, a four-door coupe showcasing the fusion of electric mobility and high performance. This concept car previews the brand's first independent electric model, planned for 2026.
The GT XX boasts three axial-flow motors, delivering over 1,000 hp and a top speed exceeding 360 km/h. These motors offer a weight reduction and higher power density compared to conventional motors.
The car's battery, drawing from Mercedes' Formula 1 expertise, uses over 3,000 cylindrical cells with NCMA chemistry, achieving an energy density of 300 Wh/kg. An 800-volt architecture enables ultra-fast charging.
With a charging power of over 850 kW, the GT XX can gain about 400 kilometers of range in just five minutes. Mercedes-AMG, with Alpitronic, has developed a prototype charger to deliver such high currents.
The GT XX sets new aerodynamic standards with a drag coefficient of 0.198. Its design, featuring a flat hood and sloping windshield, is reminiscent of classic sports cars. The orange "Sunset Beam" paintwork references the Mercedes C111.
Inside, the GT XX features carbon seat shells and upholstery made from Labfiber, a biotechnological alternative to leather. The steering wheel, similar to the AMG One, controls recuperation via shift paddles, with a display showing charge and power output.
The Mercedes-AMG GT XX provides a glimpse into the future of AMG, potentially convincing even the skeptics with its revolutionary technology and performance.
